MEET

ALEKSANDRA NEWLAND

Aleksandra Newland is a Connecticut-based flutist, piccolo player, educator, and adjudicator. She earned a Master of Arts in Flute Performance and Pedagogy from *The Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Łódź, Poland*, and has performed in the United States, Poland, Germany, Hungary, and Turkey.

Aleksandra currently serves as Flute Instructor at Wesleyan University and performs throughout New England as a flutist and piccolo player. She is an active member of the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut Flute Orchestra, Manchester Symphony Orchestra, and Blackledge Flutes. She has also performed with Concrete Timbre, a contemporary performance collaborative based in New York City, as well as the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Wallingford Symphony Orchestra, Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra, Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra, and the Birch Creek folk band.

A certified adjudicator with the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA), Aleksandra regularly adjudicates Regional and All-State auditions. She also serves on the organizing committee for FluteFest, an annual event that brings together flutists from across Connecticut for a day of performances, masterclasses, and community.

Aleksandra believes that music should be both disciplined and joyful. She is passionate about helping students build strong technical foundations while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of making music. Whether working with beginning students or advanced performers, she strives to create a positive, encouraging environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential as both musicians and individuals.
